Northrop Grumman Mission Systems Sector is seeking a Manager, Quality Engineering 3 to join the sector Supplier Quality homeroom team.This position will support the MDPS division and will be located in Huntsville, AL. 

As a key leader of the Supplier Quality team, this division SQ lead collaborates closely with the division Quality & Mission Excellence and GSC leadership to provide strategic thought leadership and preventive solutions to ensure the quality of procured material and services. Qualified candidates will have demonstrated success leading broad organization changes within cost and schedule while achieving internal customer expectations and focusing on organizational and team success. The position requires a solution-based orientation, unwavering ethics and values, and the demonstrated ability to be a trusted partner.The position will also involve responsibilities leading the Continuous Improvement initiatives within the MDPS Division and working collaboratively with CI personnel at both the Sector and Corporate levels. 

Roles and responsibilities include:

Engage in Program Capture and Kickoff activities to identify supplier quality risk in program sourcing plans, influence sourcing strategy to include capable suppliers and to identify risk mitigation strategies to minimize impact of poor supplier quality.

Collaborate with Program Quality to ensure appropriate quality requirements for programs are identified and flowed down to suppliers via purchasing documents.

Coordinate with Supplier Quality Field Quality Engineering team to ensure program risk mitigation strategies are executed in conjunction with key program schedule milestones.

Collaborate with Manufacturing and Program organizations to identify and understand supplier quality issues identified in receiving inspection and on the factory floor.Collaborate with all stakeholders to drive suppliers to sustained Root Cause & Corrective Action.

Work with program personnel to ensure adequate funding is identified for Supplier Quality risk mitigation and product validation activities; monitor Supplier Quality team activities to ensure consistency with spend plan.

Frequently interface with division executives and customer representatives concerning supplier quality risks, mitigation plans, and issue resolution.

Collaborate with Division Global Supply Chain teams to ensure critical supplier are identified and the appropriate quarterly quality performance feedback (Supplier Assessments (SAMS) or SAP Scorecards) is accurate and communicated.

Sets the strategy to improve supplier performance and ensure supplier quality, regularly communicating program status.

Use data-driven processes to measure supplier quality performance, mitigation of risk and to lead continuous improvement processes

Collaborate with Division QME teams to support Sentinel Alerts process - ensure alerts and process are clearly understood and ensure alerts closure in a timely manner.

Promote the professional development of the Supplier Quality team and foster a collaborative culture that sustains the momentum around employee engagement and inclusion, affordability, innovation, value growth and continuous improvement.

Maintain the highest level of commitment to quality, compliance and internal controls in adherence to company values and ethics.

Provide Continuous Improvement (CI) thought leadership across the Missile Defense and Protective Systems Division.Collaborate with other CI resources in other Divisions, Sectors, and at the Corporate level.Lead MDPS Drive for Excellence (DFX) initiatives.

Set the standards on the application of Lean Principles and tools, helping to enable the creation of the lean vision and culture in a Manufacturing and Software Development environment.

Lead and facilitate continued compliance to AS9100/ISO-9001 through Internal Audit program oversight and interaction with external audit registrar.

Establish and monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) at a Division Level to identify and pursue systemic improvement opportunities.

Guide continuous improvement (CI) initiatives by collaborating, coaching, and consulting with the Director of Quality and Mission Excellence and Program Managers (PMs) to develop a CI Roadmap to effectively apply CI tools and lean methodologies.

Play a lead role in CI workshops as required (Value Stream Mapping, RCCA facilitator, problem solving).

Provide clear assignments, help employees connect their efforts to the bigger picture, create an inclusive work environment characterized by mutual respect and the valuing of differences, and build a culture that motivates employees to their highest levels of performance.


Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in an engineering, technical, business, operations, manufacturing, supply chain or other related discipline

10 years of industry experience in Program or Project Management, Quality, Mission Assurance, Manufacturing, Operations, or Engineering.

5 years of leadership experience in disciplines such as Quality, Mission Assurance, Program Management, Supply Chain, Engineering, Operations, and Manufacturing.

Demonstrated understanding of the program / product lifecycle in the areas of supply chain management, receiving operations, inventory control, production control, product test & evaluation, root cause analysis, product sell off, shipping and product support as they apply to quality.

Excellent communication and problem solving skills.

Current, active Secret Clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

Familiarity with ISO 9001 / AS9100 Quality Management System certification process.

Master’s degree in an engineering or management field.

Defense Industry experience as a Program or Project Manager, Quality Manager, Supplier Quality Manager, Supply Chain Manager, Engineering Manager or Manufacturing Management

Lean / Six Sigma Green or Black Belt certification to drive continuous improvement.

Demonstrated ability to apply strong analytical skills.

Current, active clearance above Secret, or ability to acquire a Department of Defense Top Secret clearance.
