Develops, supports and optimizes Clinical Pharmacy Services in conjunction with the CPO and pharmacy staff, with a goal of providing clinical services based on patient need, organizational goals, and nationally recognized regulations and guidelines.Support costs-savings initiatives linked to clinical strategies.

Oversees the provision of staff development programs to nursing staff, medical staff and the pharmacy staff in areas of clinical and/or service expertise.Supports Quality Improvement (QI) programs, Drug Use Evaluation (DUE), Adverse Drug Reactions (ADR) and clinical programs of the pharmacy as required by national and local regulatory agencies. Under the direction of the CPO plans executes enterprise level quarterly regulatory/accrediting standards educational programs or conference calls; develops and maintains relevant regulatory/accrediting content distribution.

Serves as the regulatory and accreditation subject matter expert in the delivery of operational and clinical pharmacy services across the PMH enterprise and ensures ongoing compliance with Federal/State regulatory expectations and accrediting organization requirements.

Designs, develop, and oversees the implementation of an enterprise-wide pharmacy operations platform and initiatives supporting medication compounding certification, system improvement programs and tools designed for operational excellence and maintenance of the organization’s facilities in a state of readiness for State Board of Pharmacies and various licensing and accrediting bodies to include but not limited to the United States Pharmacopeia National Formulary, and the U.S. food and Drug Administration (FDA), CMS, The Joint Commission, DNV, HFAP and other federal and state regulatory agencies. 

Supports accreditation process including triennial surveys, PPR surveys, random unannounced surveys, and complaint surveys; analyzes strategic surveillance for trends and patterns; develops and implements strategies to improve pharmacy operations and medication management across the enterprise.  

Develops and implements facility continual survey readiness plan; conducts internal audit process to measure survey readiness; serves as the enterprise-wide PMH pharmacy operations tiger team lead in support of performance and clinical excellence and survey readiness rapid response assistance as needed; assists with survey response development; oversees action plan compliance. 

Performs duties in accordance with departmental policies and procedures, and recognized professional, quality, pharmacy, environmental and infection control standards and evidence-based best practices.


Qualifications


Minimum Education Doctor of Pharmacy required.Degrees must be obtained through an accredited institution.

Minimum Experience Minimum of least five (5) years of experience in the healthcare setting plus a minimum of at least three (3) years of direct pharmacy operations, medication management, clinical pharmacy, and quality/performance improvement experience in an acute care setting.Leadership experience in a clinical and/or administrative role in a complex or multi-hospital system preferred. Minimum five (5) years pharmacy leadership role in a hospital setting; experience within a multi-site, multi-state acute-care healthcare system preferred. Experience in a role requiring skills related to balancing clinical, regulatory, and financial goals and outcomes preferred.
