The Tax Knowledge Manager (TKM) is responsible for the management of the BDO tax practice related knowledge and intellectual property. The TKM is responsible for ensuring content, collateral, tools, and resources are organized, current, readily accessible, and archived as appropriate. This role will assist with designing training and guidance to content contributors and end users. This position researches, analyzes, summarizes, and disseminates key knowledge management trends to tax leadership and National Tax Office (NTO) Operations to help them drive or support firm objectives and initiatives. The NTO Operations team is comprised of Tax Education, Tax Process, Tax Technology, Tax Integration and Tax Administration.

Knowledge Management

- Integrates knowledge management practices into firm culture by building collaborative knowledge sharing strategies and relationships throughout the organization, and by educating and training others

- Establishes and reports on metrics for usage to establish relevance and future development needs

- Maintains strong understanding of tax processes and knowledge resources, as well as skills in organizing and filtering knowledge into highly accessible and user-friendly formats

- Understands the current priorities of firm objectives to ensure our content and data structure meets the needs of end users and is relevant to the business and its strategies

- Ensures new hires have access to knowledge management training sessions and creates knowledge management training sessions as needed to educate, equip, and empower professionals to support firm growth initiatives

- Develops relationships with key leaders/stakeholders across the firm and globally to promote the advancement of knowledge sharing

Content Management

- Assists with the design and management of the content governance process to ensure the prioritization and adherence to the overall firm business needs

- Collaborates with knowledge content managers across the firm to ensure content strategy is effectively implemented and is consistent and fluid

- Validates the quality and classification of content in accordance to the firm’s content management policies and procedures

- Manages and updates the firm’s taxonomy

- Reinforces current records management and information management policies, as well as advises tax leadership on changes to ensure policies are relevant and effective

Tax Knowledge Base

- Manages data content and structure for the Tax Knowledge Base to include:

- Fosters BDO brand initiatives and best practices to ensure consistent messaging and corporate visual identity compliance

- Refines content from originating owners/key contributors into specific knowledge presentation.

- Oversees the reviewing, uploading, and maintenance of current content on the Tax Knowledge Base, such as tax compliance manuals, templates, reference materials, toolkits, imagery, collateral, thought leadership, and other resources

- Collaborates with NTO Operations in identifying Tax Knowledge Base needs or opportunities for improvement, then propose strategic solutions, implementation plans, and project management oversight

- Creating and maintaining a database of Tax Knowledge Base-related information and frequently asked questions (FAQ) as a reference for Tax Knowledge Base users and other internal clients

Supervisory Responsibilities

- Supervises staff as assigned



- Bachelor’s degree, required; Accounting, Information Systems or Technology, Business Administration, Operations/Organizational Management, Communications, or another related field, preferred


- Five (5) or more years of experience with systems, project management, marketing, required


- In-depth understanding of SharePoint content management aspects, including content types, site columns, term store, records management and information management policies, required

- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite, SharePoint, and/or Database Applications, preferred

- Detail-oriented and ability to effectively proofread all written materials and communications

- Possesses a basic understanding of information architecture principles including master data management, taxonomy, and enterprise content management

- Possesses an in-depth understanding of enterprise content management and knowledge management models, including enterprise search & content aggregation

- Excellent project management skills and organizational skills

- Superior verbal and written communication skills

- Strong interpersonal skills – ability to develop meaningful, collaborative, strategic relationships to become a trusted advisor to internal clients at all organizational levels of the firm

- Capable of working in a demanding, deadline-driven environment with a customer service focus

- Demonstrated ability to successfully multi-task while working independently or within a team environment and manage process and client service to accomplish desired results
