about the team


The Director will report to the Senior Director for Global Fulfillment Technology and will lead and oversee the successful planning and execution of initiatives in the Global Fulfillment Distribution technology space. This Director will work closely with our Distribution business partners, technology partners and architects to plan, sequence and deliver capabilities across all of our platforms. They will own roadmaps, financials and team organization in partnership with technology and business leaders. They have expertise in technology transformation and project delivery and can apply the right methodology to the right work. The successful candidate will be an influential leader, a strategic thinker and excellent business partner with strong background in team organization and the process of delivery in a world-class Global Fulfillment technology organization. Their experience will be deep in distribution and have fundamental background in all parts of delivery, development and Quality Assurance.


a day in the life



  • Works with global business and technology leaders to deeply understand market differences and how technology can best enable regional and company planning strategies

  • Develops regular communication in the context of overall Technology to align all business and technology stakeholders

  • Work with engineering leaders, including architects, to identify foundational investments and advocate for successful technology transformations

  • Works with technology and architecture leaders on team design investment levels and business leaders on value definition

  • Leads all planning cycles for the Global Fulfillment Distribution technology organization in partnership with IT portfolio leadership

  • Leads the delivery of all Global Fulfillment Distribution engineering enhancements in partnership with the technology leaders. Can operate in a highly matrixed environment

  • Defines and balances foundational technology investments with business investments to ensure short term and long-term value is created

  • Ensures delivery of all engineering work defined in the portfolio

  • Shapes and owns the engineering and quality assurance organizations

  • Applies enterprise architecture and delivery practices into the portfolio


qualifications



  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Information Technology or a similar discipline is strongly preferred or 5 years working in engineering leadership roles in lieu of a degree

  • 7+ years of progressively responsible information technology experience leading technology teams

  • Experience in managing a diverse and creative group of individuals and leading and influencing change

  • Experience with successfully managing large department budgets

  • Demonstrated passion for Distribution technologies with a great track record of creating and implementing strategic technology and business roadmaps

  • Experience with MHE automation including Warehouse Execution Systems, robotics, sorters, and putwalls

  • Demonstrated ability to build constructive business and IT relationships and gain the trust of others in a multi-vendor, cross functional environment

  • Proven ability to meet deadlines and operating under tight time constraints with a strong sense of urgency

  • Excellent communications skills: verbal, written, negotiation and presentational. Must be able to communicate technical and project management concepts in business-oriented terms
