This Director position provides leadership and coordination of university case management of assessing threats to the personal safety of students and other university community members, posed by violent actions and statements by any person or group of people and assures a cohesive threat assessment and response process as the primary and comprehensive support. The incumbent will be responsible for conducting thorough, timely, and expedited threat assessments for the university and rendering input on risk to the Threat Team. As Chair of the Threat Team this position will work closely with Police, University Health Services, the Office of Human Resources, the Employee Assistance Program, Dean of Students/Student Conduct, University Housing, University Communications, and Office of Legal Affairs. In addition to work within the various departments of the university, this position will work with campus and area communities to provide leadership in solving community problems and contribute to a safe environment to fulfill the mission of the University. They will develop training on issues related to threat assessment, supervise development of safety plans for specific threats, as well as lead liaison activities with federal, state, county, and local government entities as needed. This position may work beyond or outside of their standard hours in times of significant threat or during critical time periods and occasionally work in high level/intense, time sensitive, rapidly evolving situations.

DEGREE AND AREA OF SPECIALIZATION
Bachelor's degree preferred
MINIMUM YEARS AND TYPE OF RELEVANT WORK EXPERIENCE
-Minimum of 5 years in a professional or law enforcement setting with experience investigating, threat assessment, response, and ongoing follow-up.
-Must have experience working with all levels of an organization including leadership and executive level positions in making critical decisions and ability to maintain confidential information while working with highly sensitive data and cases.
-Experience required demonstrating commitment to the values of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in the workplace and have established strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a multi-cultural environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills required, including the ability to relate complex information in an understandable fashion to a variety of people with different levels of knowledge on the topic.
-At a minimum candidates should have some form of experience in a professional setting working with persons facing a mental health crisis.
-Candidates should have general knowledge and experience using Microsoft Office Suite, researching and investigating utilizing social media platforms with the ability to learn Department specific software programs.
LICENSE OR CERTIFICATE
Ability to obtain the Association of Threat Assessment Professionals (ATAP) certification within 3 years of hire.
