Research, plan, design and develop mechanical products and systems such as instruments, controls, robots, engines, machines and mechanical, thermal hydraulic or heat transfer systems for UUVs, Applies research to the planning, design, development, and testing of mechanical and/or electromechanical systems, instruments, controls, engines, and/or machines.

Work includes architecting the machanical systems, collaborating with Electrical engineers on actuator and propulsion systems, and hull, propulsion, and steering system design. Small form factor, low cost systems are an emphasis.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills

BS in Mechanical Engineering and 6 years relevant experience, or MS in Mechanical Engineering and 4 years experience.

Ocean Engineering training and experience

Proficiency in Creo CAD tools

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills

Experience in maritime, undersea, or unmanned system development

Willing and able to participate in testing aboard small boats
