The incumbent serves in a leadership position with a dotted line reporting responsibility to the Health System’s Board of Directors (Board).The Chief Compliance Officer (CCO) functions as an independent and objective professional who manages the Health System’s Compliance Program and reviews and evaluates compliance issues and concerns within the organization. Key responsibilities include: design/update, implement and execute Compliance Program; develop and execute annual compliance plan (e.g., education, audit, and special project initiatives); ensure policies and procedures for the operation of the Compliance Program are current and revised as needed to maintain compliance with all applicable healthcare regulatory laws, rules, regulations, and agency standards and guidance; and advise the CEO and/or his designee and the Board, including any applicable Health System and Board committees, with respect to material compliance risks, risk mitigation, corrective actions and strategic initiatives. Responsible for Internal Audit, Physician & Hospital Billing coding assurance team. All activities will be performed in support of the strategy, vision, and values of Phoebe. Adheres to the hospital and departmental attendance and punctuality guidelines

Knowledge of and familiarity with health care provider compliance programs

Knowledge of state and federal laws and regulations related to health care providers including fraud and abuse and reimbursement.

Knowledge of healthcare reimbursement methodologies and requirements established by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS).

Knowledge of hospital operations, finance, quality assurance, legal and human resources issues and operations

Knowledge of healthcare risk management, claims management, and loss control

Excellent written and oral communication skills, personal initiative, organized and methodical, meticulous documentation and computer skills, prompt and reliable, thorough and consistent, and flexible and adaptable to change


Working Conditions

General environment: Works in a well-lighted, air-conditioned area, with moderate noise levels.

May be required to change from one task to another of different nature without loss of efficiency or composure.

Periods of high stress and fluctuating workloads may occur.

Long-distance or air travel as needed - not to exceed 10% travel.


Qualifications


Education Requirements

Master's Degree in Healthcare Administration, Healthcare Financing or related field required (Preferred)

Doctorate Degree in Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school (Required)


Experience Requirements

7 - 8 years Healthcare compliance, preferably in an in-house hospital setting(Required)

2 - 3 years Executive level compliance(Required)


General Skills

Organizational Skills,Interpersonal Skills,Customer Relations,Basic Computer Skills,Microsoft Office Suite,Proven expertise in developing and leading the respective field preferred.,Must demonstrate solid technical proficiency, possess effective communication and writing skills, and demonstrate an ability to set goals and priorities. .

Certifications and Licensures

Required Certifications/Licensures : Georgia State Bar Association Membership,Certified in Healthcare Compliance (CHC) or must be obtained within 1 year of hire.

Preferred Certifications/Licensures : Coding Certification (CPC or CCS).
