Role Responsibilities

Reporting to the SVP/Commercial Credit, the VP/Credit Team Leader oversees the Boston-based Commercial Credit Department. The Credit Team Leader has overall responsibility for managing the workflow of the Credit Department to ensure that credit decisions are delivered in a timeframe consistent with client expectations. The Credit Team Leader will serve as a key point of contact between Credit and loan officers, helping to improve collaboration and communication between those two divisions. This individual will use their credit experience to assist relationship professionals in the pre-screening, structuring and approval of CRE, C&I and Consumer (Yacht) loans. Through a combination of strong leadership, mentoring and coaching, the Commercial Credit Team Leader will lead the training and development of the Credit Department analysts.

Ensure content, quality and timeliness of credit analysis for loan approvals and modifications is thorough and of high quality through early involvement, mentoring and support of credit and relationship professionals in an overall environment of excellent customer service.

Liaise with and provide an advisory role to loan officers in the initial discussion of loan terms and conditions to assist in timely early decisions and proper structuring or re-structuring of loan and modification requests.

Work with loan system and approval templates to improve consistency, quality and flow of information in all credit submissions – to succinctly and efficiently “tell the story.”

Together with relevant line management, decision individual credits within authority granted by the Board of Directors. Be a value-added participant in the Bank’s Senior Credit Committee meetings.

Working with SVP/Commercial Credit, maintain appropriate staffing level within Credit Department, including: Interviewing, Hiring, Training, Mentoring, Goal-Setting, and Performance Reviews.

Foster a culture of continuous professional improvement and a strong customer service orientation for the members of the analyst team in Credit Department.

Oversee the Bank’s participation in summer intern program.

Assist with special projects assigned by the SVP/Commercial Credit or senior management.

This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets. Requires ability to use keyboard up to 8 hours

Non-Essential Duties

Responsible for performing miscellaneous assignments as required to aid Radius Bank team members

Required to be available for flexible scheduling as needed, attend job-related meetings, seminars and training sessions as requested

Occasional travel for training or other work-related activities

Required Experience

+7 years of leadership experience in a banking environment with a focus on commercial credit, with minimum 3 years of experience managing credit professionals

Demonstrated ability to mentor and coach direct reports to high-performance and strong collaboration in a customer service environment

Thorough knowledge of banking law as it relates to credit analysis and business lending

Excellent oral and written communication skills

Ability to organize and prioritize work and demonstrated ability to work with minimal supervision while achieving service level agreements

Attention to detail and ability to multi-task

Ability to use sound judgment

BS in Accounting, Business Management, or Finance
