The VP, Data and Model Governance is responsible for driving and embedding industry-leading data-driven culture across Thomson Reuters.They will engage across all parts of the business to uplift capabilities in data stewardship, model governance and data risk management.They are responsible for implementing activist data and model governance that is simple, automated and effective.


Responsibilities:


Work collaboratively with all parts of TR to drive a data-driven culture

Design, implement, operate and evolve the TR Data Stewardship and Model Governance functions by implementing processes & tools, training colleagues, role-modelling data-driven behaviours

Establish simple yet effective data governance processes which result in improved data quality and measurable value to customers, colleagues and shareholders

Actively track and report progress to senior stakeholders on data issue management

Work in partnership with Risk, Privacy, Sourcing and ISRM to mature data risk management practices.

Responsible for setting the strategic direction and executing the roadmap for Data & Model Governance across all of TR

Implement training and certification programs for Data Stewardship and Model Validation (leveraging industry certifications where possible)

Create, communicate and assure adoption of Data & Analytics Policies, Standards and Guidelines

Ensure D&A is a diverse and inclusive organisation.

Meet Financial Plan targets; drive productivity improvements (e.g. cost/unit reductions)


This role will partner across the TR Data & Analytics organization to:


Implement data quality measurement, metadata tagging and lineage/provenance practices (with the D&A Data Management Shared Services team)

Automation of Data Stewardship and Model Governance function (with Data Lake and AI/ML and BI Platform teams)

Creating and automating a single, unified ethical framework for use of data, machine learning and AI (with Legal, Risk, TR Labs, TRSS, Advanced Analytics Platform)

Deliver on Change Program capabilities


Education and Experience:


Bachelor’s degree in computer science, business, library sciences or equivalent experience

A minimum of 10 years of experience in data governance, model risk management or model governance.

Prior experience working in a large, geographically dispersed organization.

Experience leading and developing highly effective teams

10+ years of process leadership and/or executive positions

Extensive experience creating and executing data governance strategy and related technical roadmaps 

Ability to build, evolve and drive adoption of simple and effective processes

Experience with Agile methodologies and understanding of modern web/SaaS technologies and systems 

Experience presenting strategy and operational updates to senior executives

Experience in driving large-scale change across a global organization

Strong organization, analytical and problem-solving skills with an end-user focus

Ability to prioritize, self-initiate, and create momentum, even with partial guidance or information

Exceptionally strong verbal and written communication skills with ability to effectively communicate updates and desired outcomes in a succinct manner
