About the role


As our VP, Analytics Research & Data Science, reporting to the Chief Data Officer, you will manage, nurture and grow a talented team of analytics and data science professionals.


You will plan, formulate and execute the team’s roadmap, build partnerships with business teams both within the US and across the global Zip family, and be in charge of drawing prescriptive recommendations to uncover growth opportunities.


What you'll do:


• Understand the business levers thoroughly, get intimate with the data, and lead research opportunities for growth across the entire company.


• Deliver insights to help shape strategy across a wide spectrum of business and technology areas, including Customer Acquisition, Customer Lifecycle, Fraud analytics, Risk management, Application Features, Marketing Analytics, Customer Profitability Models, Collection Models etc.


• Translate analytic insights into concrete, actionable recommendations for business or product improvement.


• Strategize and account for model development of our ML approach to the above


• Provide guidance and thought leadership on analytical best practices to team members and business partners


• Lead and manage a Global Analytics Research & Data Science teams


• Partner with global leadership team to develop data-driven business strategy


To help us level up, you are checking as many of these boxes as possible:


• Repeatable record of leading teams through the successful performance of advanced quantitative analyses and statistical modeling that positively impact business performance.


• Personal applied experience with machine learning modeling on large datasets, proficient in scripting and querying languages, statistical methods.


• Experience in developing custom statistical models and analytical tools to support project design and interpretation


• Experience in tackling hard problems, handling ambiguity, and being able to see through the clutter in a fast-paced environment


• Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Must be able to explain technical concepts and analysis implications clearly to a C-level team


• Graduate degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Economics, Statistics or another quantitative field. PhD preferred.


• 8+ years of experience in Decision Sciences, Advanced Analytics, Quantitative modeling or statistical /machine learning; 5+ in a managerial capacity.


• Exceptional critical thinking and attention to detail
