The VP, Design & Usability will have a strategic role in delivering world-class enterprise solutions for the employees, partners, and customers who use the systems that we design and help launch into the world. You are a leader who has worked in highly regulated large enterprises, that are business-driven, and highly complex. You will be partnering with engineering, product management and other parts of the design and research organization to achieve aligned business goals to reach that mission. The VP, Design & Usability will report directly to the Chief Technology Officer.

Responsibilities


Strategy and Operations


Influence design led thinking across labs and the business 

Lead concept development in relation to design and creative outputs 

Evaluates the current status of the industry and the market to ensure delivery of relevant and useful products, messages, or branding. 

Anticipates the future direction of the industry using both research and own insight and brings the company into the fore of that trajectory. 

Take a lead role in managing the design and creative elements of projects and be point of contact forcreative projects with customers, prospects and vendors 

Develop creative programs and design concepts that meet the business objectives of the organization and that advance our brand and proposition strategy  

Develop and manage productivity and to continuously improve the design team’s production capabilities 

Ensure that design and creative projects are delivered on time and to budget ensuring commercial success 

Provide quality control over design outputs and production 

Establish and develop best practice with the design and creative team 

Work cross-functionally to deliver projects and activity to deliver against deadlines 


Team Leadership 


Provide leadership to ensure that envisaged objectives are met while also ensuring that there is the requisite sponsorship, alignment and support of all stakeholders connected with the organization 

Maintain a high-performance team and work environment enabling operational objectives and acquisition/retention of people resources to fulfill team mission successfully 

Lead and mentor others with the goal of improving their professional expertise to better serve business initiatives 

Manage team members’ performance including formal reviews, establishing departmental and individual objectives and performing applicable assessments 

Work effectively as a team member with other members of management 

Ensure appropriate resource allocation to deliver expected deliverables 

Ensure that business is conducted with integrity at all times and that behavior aligns with iCIMS policies, procedures, and core competencies.

Systems 


Ensure systems and tools used are being fully utilized 

Determine if potential automation is available regarding existing processes 

Ensure interaction with other systems are automated if possible 

Evaluate current systems and tools to determine scalability regarding future company plans and make recommendations as appropriate 

Design, implement and maintain the appropriate processes, tools, systems and training necessary to scale and support the function 

Metrics 


Establish and maintain a budget staying within spending parameters 

Measure Labs performance by implementing and refining metrics, and reporting to stakeholders as appropriate 

Partner with Product Management to ensure visibility to the status updates and dashboards regarding the delivery of the roadmap

Qualifications


15 years of related experience with a similar scope & responsibility with a track record of success in a highly metrics-driven organization   

Excellent communication abilities, both written and oral, and a demonstrated ability to communicate down to the team, across with peers, up to senior management, and out to customers, partners, press, and analysts  

Strong executive presence with the ability to say no when it is the right decision. Able to evangelize and advocate for the product and the customer at the executive team level, throughout the organization, and externally.  

Experience managing teams with complex project plans  

Experience implementing product management best practices  

Experience articulating value proposition  

Well versed in various pricing strategies  

Experience in shaping products from a strategic level and driving execution at a tactical level, with a deep understanding of technical issues.  

Strong track record in successfully partnering with engineering and UX teams to build excellent products.  

Strong customer commitment and demonstrated experience establishing a “Customer Experience” culture in support of all the business functions of a fast-paced company;  

Ability to collaborate across departments and influence senior leaders where appropriate  

Experience guiding high performing teams with demonstrated ability to evaluate and develop talent  

Experience working within a SaaS environment preferred   

Excellent communication (written and verbal), with the proven ability to effectively translate complex ideas and tailor key messages to multiple audiences  

Ability to drive and manage systems/process change agenda as required  

Experience working within a SaaS environment preferred  

Strong results orientation with a proven track record of flawless execution and strong attention to detail  


Education/Certifications/Licenses Required  


BA/BS preferred or relevant work experience
