The VP, eCommerce Business Development role is a senior sales leadership position that will lead a team of business development hunters to secure new partners in the eCommerce, ERP, and Integrated software space.Elavon has aggressive plans to grow our eCommerce business, and we are looking for a senior professional, with lots of energy, that will act as a player / coach and lead by example to sign new partners. This role is an exciting growth opportunity for a team leader who prides him / her – self on identifying targets, cultivating relationships and converting them into a successful client portfolio.If you are looking to make an impact, this is your role.Success is defined by closing deals with new partners, leading to expanded sales opportunities and ultimately new customer acquisition.This role is for a leader who is passionate about winning.

The VP, eCommerce Business Development role is responsible for business development and new partner sales within the eCommerce space.This role will focus on positioning Elavon as the payments partner of choice.The role will manage the end-to-end sales process from partner lead identification through close and contract.The end goal is to drive new software, solution and services relationships for Elavon.

Software Vendors/Partners is a strategic focus area for Elavon.This key role will promote and generate Elavon solution awareness in order to ultimately create and sustain a consistent referral stream of customers through partner development.This individual will have a strong understanding of software markets and North American Integrated Payments space.Experience and prior relationships working in the eCommerce and / or payments space is an asset.

This position requires an individual successfully lead and manage a team of sales professionals to engage potential partners at the Product and Executive levels including:

Effectively positioning Elavon within these communities as the payments partner of choice for emerging software and services companies

Responsibility for defining appropriate commercial terms for each relationship

Determining applicable product solution sets, and working with Elavon teams to define effective marketing efforts and sales programs to increase these opportunities, ultimately resulting in lead generation from these partners

Work with internal departments to develop new certifications between partner solutions and Elavon’s payment platforms

Top candidates must possess and maintain an extensive and fundamental technical knowledge of electronic payment processing, including integration capabilities, interchange fees, pricing schedules, association rules and regulations, underwriting risk, compliance standards, processing solutions including hardware and software options, as well as EMV and emerging technologies within the payment gateway and acquiring business lines. Ideally, the candidate will have experience with eCommerce customers and partners, and must have or gain knowledge of the Elavon Partner program and product offerings, focusing lead development efforts on preferred customer profiles to enhance lead and referral totals and closing ratios.

Primary Responsibilities:

Develop and own the overall eCommerce partner sales strategy and portfolio

Identify new partner sales opportunities and support the entire team in closing deals and meeting goals

Source and execute partnerships with eCommerce and consulting vendors and developers, which create merchant services reseller opportunities or leads for all direct sales channels

Create, maintain and manage a pipeline of partner prospects

Understand the revenue and profitability of the entire portfolio to ensure appropriate partner growth

Be a visible leader in the payments industry, both internally and externally

Identify and monitor market trends and competitors actions in order to gain the competitive advantage 

Generate leads, prospect, and execute reseller and referral partnerships with eCommerce partners

Structure partnerships, including defining the Elavon transaction management delivery, and negotiating contracts

Work with the broader partner and eCommerce organization to establish sales strategies with partners to drive additional revenue opportunities, and communicate program details and marketing initiatives 


Basic Qualifications

Bachelor's degree, or equivalent work experience

10 or more years of sales experience in the financial services industry

Four or more years of management experience

Other characteristics – Skills and Experience required:

10+ years’ experience in sales and/or business development in the merchant acquiring or eCommerce industry

Presence, Teamwork, Sales Leadership

Knowledge with merchant acquiring industry products and services; ability to clearly communicate merchant acquiring concepts, including interchange fees, pricing schedules, underwriting risk and compliance standards, and key benefits offered to potential partners

Effective communicator with strong presentation, relationship building, and negotiation skills

Proven ability to successfully work with IT/Product level contacts to partner with technology organizations and define go-to-market sales strategies

Proven track record in performing well in a fast-paced environment; ability to handle multiple priorities and work aggressively to achieve growth

Strong partnering and influencing skills; ability to work collaboratively with multiple stakeholders

Strong closing skills and sense of urgency to push business forward in support of the overall strategy and revenue growth targets

Strong financial/competitive analysis skills and ability to make critical decisions independently

Bachelor's degree, at a minimum

Travel is required up to 50% of work time
