The VP Employee and Labor Relations Operations leads the Employee and Labor Relations Operations Team for all of MGM Resorts and assumes responsibility for the strategic development, implementation and management ofcentralized and efficientemployee and labor relations operational programs, policies and services that maximize employee and manager satisfaction and promote a high level of employee morale while minimizing MGM corporate risks. This role requires partnering with Strategic Labor Relations, Corporate Centers of Excellence, Corporate and Property Human Resources leadership, Senior Leaders and Legal to formulate, recommend and facilitate both proactive and reactive solutions for employee issues. Key priorities will be to continue to develop, refine and lead an effective centralized ER/LR operations structure to ensure consistent execution across properties (Regional and Las Vegas) and provide a single point of oversight for operational ER/LR activities. The overall goal is to ensure MGM treatment of employees is fair, respectful and consistent with its core values and mission statement while supporting its corporate and property business objectives.


All duties and responsibilities are to be performed in accordance with departmental and MGM Resorts International policies, practices and procedures.


Provides oversight of ER/LR operational policy development to drive programs and processes facilitating education and providing a consistent experience for employees in alignment with MGM’s corporate culture and values. 


Leads the Employee Relations Team to work directly and effectively with business leaders and supervisors on performance management, behavioral coaching, misconduct issues, discipline and terminations;


Ensure the ER/LR teams execute timely, thorough and objective workplace investigations.


Leads the Operational Labor Relations Team to drive timely and effective grievance processing and resolution.


Partners with HR leadership and other business leaders to provide actionable insights based on Employee and Labor Relations trends and metrics.


Collaborates with VP of Labor Relations Strategy and the Labor Strategy Team to provide information and data regarding identified labor relations trends and issues to support creation of proactive labor relations and collective bargaining strategies.


Serves as a subject matter expert on ER/LR company policy, procedures, exceptions, best practices and performance; effective leads ER/LR policy and practice matters in alignment with Company mission, vision and values.


Identifies business impact of ineffective or inconsistent management practices through monitoring and investigation of local issues, and make recommendations for remediation.


Ensures effective partnership and continuous feedback on COE performance between the Employee and Labor Relations Operations Team, and HR leadership, COEs, Compliance, Legal, and business leaders.


Supervises the problem resolution policy to ensure fairness and consistency across MGM.


Provides key stakeholders with organizational perspective on Employee and Labor Relations themes, issues, strategies, and changes to enhance overall effectiveness and ensure risk mitigation for the business unit and/or company-wide. 


Proactively obtains, interprets, and presents metrics and analysis to Human Resources leaders and business leaders to inform decisions and align business and human resources strategies.


Builds strong rapport and credibility with business leaders and coaches ER/LR teams to provide effective feedback and consulting regarding employee relations matters.


Establish and maintains effective partnerships with labor organizations that represent employees.


Updates current and propose new corporate-wide policies and processes ensuring consistent understanding/execution.


Ensures leaders are informed to answer employee questions on new or current policies.


Monitors and analyzes external trends, regulatory changes and legal updates to guide their team and business leaders and take appropriate actions to help mitigate risk.


Performs other job related duties as assigned.


Required:


10+ years of human resources generalist or related experience with 7+ years in a leadership position with oversight of employee and labor relations functional areas.


Ability to effectively communicate in English, in both oral and written forms.


Bachelor’s Degree in hospitality, business administration, human resources or related field.


Strong knowledge of employment law (EEO, FMLA, ADA, etc.)


Strong background in investigations, with an emphasis on investigation sof workplace complaints preferred.


Experience developing and writing HR policy


Strong PC skills, including excel and PowerPoint.


Preferred:


Previous experience working in a similar resort setting.


Multi-jurisdictional employment law experience


Masters degree
