Reporting to the Senior Vice President of Finance & Strategy, the Vice President of FP&A will provide leadership, direction, and oversight for Jackson Hewitt’s FP&A function. The VP of FP&A will be responsible for the annual budget process, long-term financial planning, monthly financial reporting and forecasting, and performance management. Specific responsibilities will include:
Manage, mentor, and coach members of the FP&A team;
Manage the financial planning process for the company – including overseeing the annual budget and maintaining / evolving our five-year financial plan and associated financial model;
Prepare Jackson Hewitt’s monthly financial package; report to the CFO, CEO, and Board;
Reforecast revenues and expenses based on strategic changes and business results;
Participate in quarterly lender calls to explain financial performance and variance to budget;
Work closely with department leaders to help them understand their financial performance;
Analyze day-to-day business performance, identify trends and deviations from plan, assess root causes, and work with business owners to recommend corrective action;
Prepare Jackson Hewitt for a potential IPO event; and
Direct and perform ad hoc financial analysis for the CEO and CFO (as needed).
Skills you will bring for success:
This role requires 8-10 years in roles of progressive responsibility, including several years in managerial positions.Although not required, experience in or familiarity with the financial services and/or retail sectors is preferred.In order to excel in this position, this individual should possess excellent critical thinking, strong communication skills and the power of persuasion, acute business acumen, and an unmatched desire to succeed.S/he must have the learning agility, initiative, and energy to both keep up with and contribute to the changing marketplace.This role will require experience working in a fast-paced environment and the ability to adjust and respond to dynamic business conditions.
The ideal candidate should also possess the following qualifications and attributes:
Bachelor’s Degree required. MBA and/or CPA preferred.
A meticulous attention to detail combined with the drive to deliver the most accurate reporting and forecasting;
Deep intellectual curiosity and strong drive to “crack the problem”;
Outstanding quantitative and analytical ability as well as a data-driven approach for solving problems;
Ability to think strategically and practical sense of how to cut to the core issues / analysis;
Deep expertise in Excel and PowerPoint and the ability to learn new business process software applications;
A track record of developing team members for growth and advancement as well as managing a team to high levels of performance;
Excellent written and oral communication skills, and the demonstrated ability to communicate the results of analysis to critical senior audiences;
Demonstrated ability to working in a dynamic, fast-paced business environment; and
The professional gravitas to build strong relationships with a broad range of people across all levels of management.
