SMBC is seeking a VP in the Bank Holding Company, Financial Accounting Control department who will be managing and review the day to day operation, consolidation process, maintenance and control of the BHC General Ledger and the shadow general ledgers of the BHC's subsidiaries and preparing consolidated financial statements for the BHC for the year-end.


Responsibilities

Manage and review the day to day operation of the shadow General Ledgers of the BHC's subsidiaries and the BHC General Ledger

Perform the review of the BHC ledger and analyze the BHC's Balance Sheet to ensure the accuracy for the reporting

Perform analytical review of the monthly and quarterly variances in the BHC's Balance Sheet and Income Statement

Review and resolve inter-company balance sheet and P&L breaks between BHC's subsidiaries

Perform and review overall consolidation process and capability of resolving issues

Prepare quarterly financial presentation material for senior management including variance commentary

Prepare year-end consolidated financial statements and footnotes for the BHC

Communicate with the subsidiaries for any accounting and reporting issues

Manage and responsible for internal or external auditors' requests

Assist in any ad hoc projects


Qualifications


10+ years of experience in Financial Reporting and Audit

Bachelors Degree in Accounting

10+ years of experience in financial services sector or financial institutions. Public accounting experience is preferable

Experience with Microsoft Office applications - Excel, Word, Access and Visio

Experience with Oracle or any other GL applications

Experience with preparation of consolidated financial statements and footnotes

Familiar with US GAAP Accounting Policy

Familiar with Internal Control Framework assessment


Excellent analytical, communication and problem solving skills

Ability to work effectively and independently as well as withing a group setting

Detail oriented and well organized

Ability to multitasks and work with shifting priorities

Excellent management skills over different work flows and processes
