Responsible for profitable growth in the Auto lines of business—individual and fleet—in International markets.

Work in close partnership with regional and local counterparts to ensure top line and bottom line results meet operating and strategic plan objectives. 

Develop and implement strategic business plans to achieve overall profitable growth.

Establish, review and monitor underwriting guidelines and serve as a resource for underwriters, specifically underwrite and produce the larger more complex accounts.

Underwrite risks and accounts that are outside of regional and local authority levels, and refer to IPL CUO with high quality recommendations when outside own authority level.

Develops and evaluates pro-forma P&L for large programs or products.

Develop and evaluate new products and concepts in partnership with Regions.

Continuously monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the Auto operations and ensure we have the proper tools to operate effectively.

Develop, oversee and implement strategic marketing strategies to ensure the profitable growth of business through our various producers in select markets worldwide.

Provide effective leadership, guidance, direction and training of partners and staff as required. Train & Develop underwriters and product managers at the regional and local level as required and as/or evidenced by audits, referrals and underwriting results.

Partners with actuaries, reporting and analytics team to develop portfolio management best practices to manage the Auto book of business and communicate drivers of P&L results.

Perform underwriting audits and provide recommendations that will improve the quality of our auto underwriting throughout the globe.

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Prior experience in progressively more senior Personal lines positions in respected, industry leading carriers.

Deep technical expertise encompassing all facets of the Auto insurance line of business

Ability to plan, organize, direct and implement unit’s goals and objectives, and to stimulate creativity and change when required.

Demonstrated ability to perform budget preparation and analysis, along with the development of a sound business plan for the department. 

Insatiable curiosity for finding pockets of income opportunity.Comfort and affinity for leveraging data to find impactful insights and drive profit -generating changes.

Proven management skills.

Strong business acumen, instinct and understanding of products, risk appetite and niches. 

Track record of high achievement in a team-based and results-oriented culture 

Proven track record in relationship-building and driving change in a matrixed work environment. 

Exceptional analytical, critical thinking skills, with thorough attention to detail. 

Excellent planning, documentation and problem solving skills.  

Project management ability and drive-for-results orientation.

Ability to travel international - 20%
