The Vice President, Learning & Development is responsible for driving enhanced sales productivity and office profitability by focusing on 3 areas: Sales Agent Training and Development, Sales Manager Training and Development, Broker/Owner Training and Development.The VP is responsible to work with brand leadership and the ReaLearning COE to develop and implement solutions which support the growth through sales force expansion, productivity increases, profitability increases, and consistent brand representation.In addition to sales and management training programs, VP of Learning and Development will work with brand leaders and the ReaLearning COE to establish programs providing best practices in recruiting and candidate selection, professional development, career path planning, coaching and mentoring, performance management, and succession planning.The VP will lead a Senior Trainer who will deliver solutions to brand employees and sales associates both online and in person. 

The main objective for this role is to increase adoption rates by utilizing both outsourced and internal learning opportunities.  

Duties, Responsibilities & Functional Competencies

Excellent interpersonal, presentations skills which generate interest in franchising/affiliating with the SOTHEBY’S INTERNATIONAL REALTY Real Estate brand (domestic and international prospects).

Group facilitation and classroom leadership.

Generate student participation and engagement and have survey feedback reflect.

Serve as subject matter expert in different areas of real estate sales, management and luxury service industries.

Identification and prioritization of development needs, implementation of a delivery strategy, and measurement of results

Delivery virtual and live learning to a wide range of audiences including sales associates and employees, scaling from office level workshops to large scale seminars and learning and development events.

Design and craft one-off classes/webinars based on the business strategy and use of the SOTHEBY’S INTERNATIONAL REALTY digital lead generation and marketing tools.

Competency working with Microsoft O365 (PowerPoint, Excel, Word) for creating and editing training slide decks, facilitator guides and student manuals.

Develop, implement, and oversee programs to identify organization capability gaps and develop strategic approach towards addressing those gaps.

Use a variety of instructional techniques and formats to incorporate simulations, case studies, role plays, team exercises/discussions to drive optimal training and development outcomes and results.Use platform delivery options like breakout rooms and forum discussions to engage participants.

Assist with promotion and communication of webinar and course initiatives (social media and email campaigns).

Support instructional design team in capturing sales best practices, providing guidance as needed for classroom delivery options and ideas.

Provide constructive feedback for improving course /webinars developed by the Learning Center of Excellence.

Maintain strategic alliances with industry and training organizations.

Stay up to date with industry updates, training standards, adult learning styles and preferences, as well as blended/social learning techniques. 

Successful delivery and classroom management which results in survey NPS scores of 80% or higher.Provide recommendations for training survey collection for improving delivery and development.

Anticipate, support and welcome continuous improvement to established training programs and platforms. Be ready to adapt and adjust to a new and changing corporate learning landscape.Assume personal responsibility to see that necessary change is adopted and implemented.

Promote and attain sales associate and employee engagement in SalesPRO and future learning platforms.

Maintain course content on SalesPRO and future learning platforms.

Develop, implement, and oversee learning and development solutions which support the Brand and provide employees and sales associates with targeted opportunities to develop skills and capabilities in both leadership and functional competencies.

Develop, implement, and oversee programs that deliver solutions to build organization capability (i.e. recruiting/selection, new associate orientation, talent development/management & succession planning processes, performance management, leadership development).

Work with senior leadership to provide development solutions and resources across regions and functions.

Provide consulting and coaching services as required by the departmental leaders to optimize individual and team performance

Manage a full time senior trainer who is responsible for field delivery of company programs.

Minimum Qualifications

Proven experience in delivering classroom training.

Strong business acumen

Strategic thinker and visionary leader

Past experience working with a luxury real estate, consumer or hospitality brand.

Real estate sales or management experience.

Strong organization, administrative and time management skills.

Ability to multi-task projects and training course delivery.

Familiarity with Learning Management Systems (LMS) functionality.

Build and maintain relationships with SOTHEBY’S INTERNATIONAL REALTY’s NRT owned offices and the franchise affiliate network.

Work effectively with different personality styles.

Proven track record in understanding and reaching real estate sales practitioners and how to deliver training to a diverse audience.

Demonstrates success in managing small and large classroom groups (both virtually and live).

Strong collaborative and influencing skills.

Strong communication skills:written, verbal, presentation and engaging class delivery skills for all individuals at the enterprise level.

Proficiency in O365 (MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint)

Anticipated business travel is approximately 60%


Undergraduate degree required. Advanced degree preferred.

Minimum of seven year’s experience in teaching or training.

Experience in the real estate sales learning/training space.

Familiar with adult learning, instructional design and technology concepts

Experience planning and executing small and large (3,000+) training events) a plus.

Past experience working with a luxury real estate, consumer or hospitality brand.

Reporting Structure 

The Vice President, Learning and Development reports directly to the NRT Vice President of Learning Strategy and Delivery; indirectly reports to the SIRA Leadership.
