The VP of Engineering & Technology for the Defense business leads the creation and deployment of the Research, Technology and Product strategies, leading all innovation efforts, developing the current and future product portfolio of the business line.The VP E&T has technical accountability for all product developments from the bid up to certification and for providing engineering support to manufacture & provide in service support for the product. A key part of the role is establishing senior technical relationships with the Customer.Acts as a key interface with Divisional Government Affairs.
•Create and execute the product, research & technology strategy for the business line.
•Ensuring the business has the necessary technical capability to deliver the workload, both capacity and skills, to support the business strategy
•Leads the formation of strategic partnerships to optimize engineering capability.
•Ensuring the appropriate technical quality & airworthiness approvals and processes are in place and adhered to
•Responsible for the technical progress of all programs and meeting the technical requirements specified by the OEMs
•Ensuring the products have a route to certification and airworthiness.
•Ensuring the products meet the performance and business case expectations.
•Key technical interface with the Customer senior technical teams
•Technical responsibility for the products from the bid to in service lifecycle
•Acts as a key interface with global and local ecosystems of which they are a part.

•Orchestrate the Project Management Review (PRM) schedule as well as any other feeder reviews
•Budget responsibility - To manage, forecast and report on the Technology annual budget and prepare and manage the annual budgeting cycle in conjunction with Finance.
•To develop and manage the eco system engagement models, both nationally and internationally
•Maximize and stream line Grant Management within the International Eco Systems relevant to ASEA
•To work with the wider program management function operationally to align best practice in a R&T environment
• Bachelors Degree in Engineering
• 15Years of experience in the field of Aerospace/Defense engineering.
• 10Years of experience managing and developing large direct or matrixed engineering teams.
• 10Years of experience managing project and department budgets including evidence of budget definition and successful budget control
• Must have an active DOD Secret Clearance or the ability to obtain.
•Advanced degree is preferred
•Broad engineering background across multiple product sectors and customers.
•Expereince developing technology from conception through implementation.
•Technical responsibility for complex engineering tasks.
•Demonstrated understanding of R&D principles
•Managing technical relationships with customers.
•Capability development of engineering function.
•Knowledge and prior responsibility for certification and associated technical authorities.
•Demonstrated strong leadership, collaboration, project management, problem-solving, change management and influencing skills.
•Competent and well-practiced leading teams within a global matrix with virtual team relationships.
•Experience serving as a technical advisor to a senior leadership team
