The VP, Product Development is responsible for providing leadership, planning, strategic direction and financial oversight for new and existing products. You will leverage existing ideas, your industry and government experience, and input from customers and prospects to improve and build new products. You will work with sales, account management, IT and finance to develop product business cases and business requirements. You will work with legal to develop products that are compliant with legal and regulatory requirements. You will work with marketing to define and develop the go to market strategy, helping them understand the products value proposition and target market. You will also serve as the internal and external expert for the product offering, working with sales and account management. You will oversee the entire life cycle of a product from concept and design to development and deployment. You will work with the Health Plans to encourage market adoption of new concepts and changes.You will monitor and analyze product performance and make recommendations on modifications and enhancements.The VP must leverage a combination of technical and government experience, big picture vision, and drive to be successful. 


Lead, define, represent and communicate product strategy and vision in line with the businesses long-term goals

Define business requirements and provide oversight for successful implementation

Develop and own the product roadmap

Oversee competitive research and technology assessment

Assess product development and enhancement opportunities

Evaluate and establish program priorities in alignment with business objectives

Define pricing and competitive positioning

Develop budgets, forecasts, metrics and measures. Monitor and evaluate the results

Analyze build, buy, partnership opportunities in relation to existing and new products

Develop business cases and maintain business case

Collaborate with senior management to ensure market strategy success

Strategize with clients

Work with customer schedules to ensure a smooth launch of products/services and enhancements

Define and develop strategy for training materials and documentation

Other duties as assigned

Attends meetings, prepared and participates accordingly

Represents the organization in a positive and professional manner

Required Skills/Abilities:

Expert level knowledge in Medicaid and Medicare managed care

Visionary with Implementation skills

Project Management

Outstanding verbal & written communication

Microsoft Office, particularly with Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

Education and Experience

BS/BA in Public Health, Healthcare Administration, Business, Finance or a related field

MBA preferred

10+ years government health plan experience with Medicaid.Multi-state knowledge required

Clinical background preferred
