Kemper is seeking a VP, P&C Project Management. This position is the senior leader over the P&C project management team and sets the strategy for project management as a discipline. It provides oversight to a series of project management teams that serve the P&C business.This role works very closely with business and IT senior leadership to ensure that project and program execution is performed in an effective and efficient fashion. It designs, implements, and upholds standards that are in alignment with industry practices across the spectrum of execution modes. This role builds, maintains, and grows a team of project and program management professionals consisting of both full-time and contract resources. 

Position Responsibilities:

Defines the strategy for project management as a discipline

Builds, maintains, and grows a structured P&C PMO 

Evolves the PM discipline to meet the changing needs of the business

Provides oversight to at least three project manager teams

Defines, implements, and maintains project management standards

Ensures that PM support is provided consistently and in a timely fashion where required

Anticipates needs and plans proactively for capacity

Fosters effective communication and transparency at all levels

Provides updates consistently to executive level audience on major programs

Travels to various Kemper office locations as needed

Position Qualifications:

Bachelors degree in business administration, or bachelors degree in a technical field with a masters in business administration

At least 5 years management experience

PMP or Agile scrum master certification

At least 10 years’ experience leading cross-disciplinary projects involving business and IT

At least 5 years’ experience leading projects with impact over $20m

Executive level communication skills

Strategic thinking skills

Senior level prioritization and strategic focus

Demonstrated ability to lead a team

Demonstrated ability to transform a team

Business and organizational architecture skills preferred
