Responsible for all aspects of managing a loan portfolio including preparing and approving annual reviews, timely and accurate risk rating assessments, renewals/modifications and underwriting new loan requests. This role will also be responsible for directly supporting Management in the continued oversight and management of the MMCRE Loan Portfolio.
Essential Job Functions:
Works with the Management to adhere to the regulatory and managerial guidelines established in policy and support the overall strategic goals set by management.
Works to develop policies and procedures that address relevant points of operation, including (but not limited to), reporting standards, internal audit process, credit review process and all regulatory compliance.
Provides pro-active credit risk analysis of MMCRE Loan Portfolio, specifically, monitor Borrower compliance with loan documents, including, monitoring Borrower development activities and monitoring collateral operating budgets and operating results with a view toward confirming compliance with leasing and financial covenants and continued financial viability of the underlying collateral and its ability to service the debt.
Performs ongoing follow up for collection and review of all required documentation and financial data including tax returns, financial statements, rent rolls, operating statements, global cash flow statements, appraisal and environmental reports and other documents as needed or as prescribed by their respective loan covenants and reporting requirements.
Determines the physical condition of the collateral through analysis of appraisal reports, inspection reports, environmental/engineering reports, property condition reports and flood determination reports.
Analyses the property’s loan to value, debt service coverage ratio, marketability through analysis of appraisal, rent rolls, financial statements, market data and demographic information.
Determines the credit worthiness of borrowers, principals, and guarantors through analysis of tax returns, financial statements, global cash flow statements, bank statements, credit reports and OFAC reports and Personal Questionnaire response.
Prepares the Credit Memorandum/eCAD for new loan requests and renewals/modifications, detailing loan terms, property condition and marketability, lease rollover risk, financial strength of borrowers, principals and guarantors, loan stress testing, risk/credit grading, loan classification and any exceptions to loan policy.
Works with Closing Department to ensure all policy exceptions are approved and properly reported on the Bank’s exception reports.
Responsible for ensuring the accuracy of the loan data input and ongoing loan maintenance.
Post-closing responsibilities include, reviews of holdback on post-closing requirements, performs ongoing analysis of financial statements, cash flow and loan re-grading if required.
Discusses ongoing Portfolio Management/Credit issues to various levels of management.
Assists with the resolution of loan administration issues, including “following-up” on exception items, post-closing items, and all loan billing. Handle customer calls and research items for problem resolution.
Follows Bank policy, practice and procedures.
Conducts ad hoc financial analysis as required.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Ability to identify challenges, establish a corrective plan of action and execute the plan with little or no assistance from others.
High level of numerical and analytical aptitude.
Proficiency in English and Business writing.
Organized and detail oriented.
Thorough knowledge of loan underwriting and credit evaluation.
Good organizational skills.
Proven ability to multi-task, deliver results and respond quickly and effectively to requests.
Ability to multi-task and work well under pressure and with exacting deadlines.
Ability to work under general supervision.
Computer skills with a primary focus on Excel knowledge.
Equipment Used in Job Performance/Working Environment:
Bachelor’s degree in business, real estate or equivalent work experience required.
Master of Business Administration or Real Estate preferred.
Three to five (3-5) years of related work experience required, commercial real estate underwriting and/or asset management coursework preferred.
