In this role you'll have the chance to:

Lead and build a world-class medical communications, medical information and medical training team

Develop and execute a strategic publication and communication plan based on an evidence-based scientific platform and business-aligned medical strategy

Lead medical education activities (CME and non-CME), including scientific advisory boards and congress symposia

In partnership with the head of the field medical affairs team, develop and execute a medical training plan

Serve as a core member of the Flexion Medical Affairs Leadership Team and chair of the Medical Communications Committee

Collaborate compliantly with colleagues in Marketing, Managed Markets, HEOR-RWE to ensure strategic alignment with the scientific platform

Develop and refine functional capabilities, best practices, policies, systems, metrics and processes

Our Ideal Candidate Will Have:

Basic Qualifications

At least 10 years of biopharmaceutical industry experience, including medical communications, medical information and/or training

A master’s degree in a medical or scientific discipline (MS, MPH); ability to dive deep into data as well as understand implications for clinical practice

Direct experience writing, editing, publishing and presenting scientific research at scientific meetings and in peer-reviewed publications

Seasoned team leader and people manager; track record of hiring and developing top talent

Preferred Qualifications

Greater than 10 years of biopharmaceutical industry experience, with broad medical affairs leadership experience (both field-based and headquarters)

A doctoral degree in a medical or scientific discipline (PhD, PharmD, MD); clinical practice experience is a plus

Experience across all stages of drug development and commercialization

Experience working in orthopedics/musculoskeletal disease and/or gene therapy

Direct pre-launch and product launch experience

Active participation in and certification by industry organizations (ISMPP, DIA)

Proven ability to collaborate and influence strategy and decision-making across functions and multiple levels of an organization

Superb oral and written communication and interpersonal skills; high level of emotional intelligence and ability to build productive internal and external working relationships

Outstanding project management skills, including demonstrated ability to develop and deliver a strategic medical plan (can combine strategic thinking with tactical execution)

Strong attention to detail and the ability to work individually, within a multi-disciplinary team, as well as with external KOLs and vendors/contractors; a strong “roll-up your sleeves” attitude and approach
