Jackson Hewitt is looking for a leader of its newly formed Strategic Delivery Office (SDO).The SDO’s primary objective is the successful delivery of our Strategic Objectives, the most important efforts that drive multiyear growth.This office will work alongside senior business leaders in Marketing, Product and Operations to team with the Technology and Legal Departments to deliver on our strategic goals.They will regularly engage with the Executive team, including CEO and CFO, to make key decisions, raise concerns and share progress.
At its core we are looking for someone with the Project, Portfolio and Relationship management skills to create and execute the plans necessary for delivery.This role will also have ownership of the delivery of these initiatives and is looked on to be a partner for the business to streamline execution and deliver a better outcome.
Your focus will be on driving decisions and providing visibility around enterprise capacity, prioritization, capabilities and change management.The ideal person would be a great communicator who is able to direct and guide high performing cross functional teams as well as someone who can frame up decisions needed – including key tradeoffs - to the executive team.This person should also have the courage to bring up difficult subjects and raise unpopular topics.
The SDO will be expected to be problem solvers and leaders for the enterprise that can influence change and get results without the need for constant escalations.They will also communicate and manage stakeholders through the lifecycle of the initiative.
What you’ll do:
Create and maintain the portfolio and project plans for Strategic Objectives and their initiatives.
Lead the SDO by implementing needed toolsets as well as hiring and developing staff.
Have direct responsibility for delivery on certain Strategic Objectives.
Communicate in ways that create change, manage expectations and enable alignment across teams.
Align product, marketing, operations, legal and technology roadmaps with strategic goals
Lead and formulate delivery strategy for the enterprise, be a delivery expert the team can draw on to determine the most appropriate approaches and methodologies
Spot warning signs of things going wrong and provide a decisive response to significant delivery challenges.
Lead the collaborative, dynamic planning process to set the project up for success, prioritizing the work that needs to be done against the capacity of the team
Skills needed for success:
10-15 years of leadership experience in a program management office
Effectively collaborate with senior business and technical staff to come to a decision
Self-starter with the ability to overcome obstacles and reach consensus
Ability to break down barriers and persist through organizational resistance to change
Ability to effectively communicate decisions needed to the executive team
Portfolio and Project Management expertise
Ability to generate “what if” scenarios when resource or capability collisions could occur
Experience leading enterprise initiatives in an Agile environment
Understand enough of the technical domain to recognize the technical risks arising from the development process
Strong organizational and communication skills
Experience in financial services or tax industry preferred
