The company's Strategic Planning Department is looking for a highly motivated and qualified Senior Foresight & Innovation Strategist.

 

The primary responsibility of this role is identifying, tracking, and analyzing societal and consumer trends, consulting and collaborating with client groups on business implications

 

Reporting to the Long Range Planning Manager, the person in this role will support the Strategic Planning department's objective to develop ideas and strategies that will elevate company’s overall business outcome. The successful candidate must have excellent project management skills, and a general understanding of strategy development. They must be adaptable, self-directed, a strong team player, and an excellent communicator and relationship builder. 

 

Key Responsibilities

Identify, monitor, and synthesize short to long-term societal and consumer trends and identify business implications

Lead, update, and improve company’s trends framework and program

Prepare and deliver presentations – update and support ongoing requests

Collaborate with global affiliates (periodically)

Manage demographic projections – update and support ongoing requests

Manage multiple trends and demographic forecast vendors, including capability assessments, relationship and operational oversight, and financial aspects

By leveraging our trends framework and trend insights, proactively work with and support internal stakeholders/clients on their business planning, ideating, and problem solving efforts

Use creative approaches to design and facilitate idea generation and implications workshops and  deliver solutions

Manage an internal collaboration platform to enhance cross-functional projects and initiatives

Proactively identify innovative ideas and solutions to capitalize on changing business priorities and needs

Facilitate increasing collaboration between clients and across departments within Toyota

Engage with stakeholders across Toyota in North America and globally to formally and informally exchange trends, innovative ideas, and business insights

Proactively expand external trends network, to bring new and unique insights and connections to the organization

Ad hoc requests at all levels, including executive requests

Offer continuous improvement and development ideas to contribute to Toyota's culture of innovation and creativity

Qualifications

 

Required

A successful candidate will:

BA/BS degree; MBA or Advanced degree, strongly preferred

Ability to envision the future and draw business implications

At least 3 years of proven experience in foresight/trends, strategy, marketing, design, research or related field

Knowledge of or experience in working with or applying a trends framework

Ability to think strategically and problem solve

Ability to identify/develop innovative ideas and approaches

Ability to work with ambiguous project guidelines, and to be flexible

Ability to effectively and succinctly communicate in verbal, written, and visual

Proficiency in analyzing both quantitative and qualitative data

Ability to create and develop networks, both internal and external, as a way to support and build the trend tracking program and impact

Solid understanding of and interest in Toyota’s business model, the automotive industry, and key issues facing each today and in the future

Strong leadership skills, including being an enthusiastic self-starter and being able to take projects from inception to completion with limited supervision

Experience in presenting and leading/facilitating brain storming sessions

Experience developing creative and visual methods of reporting and distributing information

Preferred

A successful candidate may:

MBA or Graduate Level Degree

Experience in graphic or visual design

Interest in new technology and digital software that can support leading-edge reporting and integration of our work
